George Gray Bowerman
is a performing classical pianist, educator, writer, and photographer, whose performances have been hailed for their “unfettered, joyous abandon…passion and fervor” (Masslive of the Springfield Republican), with repertoire that spans from the early Baroque to world premieres of new compositions.
He has performed in the US and internationally at historic venues such as Manhattan’s 57th street Steinway Hall and Newport’s Belcourt Castle, art museums and galleries, churches, universities, music festivals, and private concert series. Driven by his desire to support charities and non-profit organizations, George has also presented fundraising concerts on behalf of community outreach and humanitarian causes.


George has attended premiere summer programs both in the US and abroad, and has participated in lessons and masterclasses led by esteemed international pedagogues including Seymour Bernstein, Christopher Elton, Martin Canin, Jonathan Biss and Barry Snyder.
During his undergraduate years at Dickinson College under the mentorship of Jennifer Blyth (B.A., 2008-2012), George was awarded with scholarship for his contribution to the musical life of the college, collaborated with students and faculty, performed with the college’s orchestra as a winner of the annual concerto competition, and graduated with honors in music.
From 2012-2015, George resided in Toronto, Ontario to pursue intensive artistic and private musical study with pianists Jamie Parker and Christina Petrowska Quilico, musicologist Austin Clarkson, and Alexander Technique practitioner Eldon Ng. While in Toronto, he competed in regional and provincial level competitions, receiving top prizes. There, he began private study with John O’Conor in 2015.
Following his graduation from Shenandoah Conservatory (M.M., 2017-2020), where he completed his degree with John O’Conor, George received an invitation to join the keyboard faculty as a Teaching Fellow in piano for the 2020-2021 academic year.
As a devoted pedagogue, George has offered lessons to all ages and skill levels for over a decade, has given masterclasses at universities and colleges, and maintains a private teaching studio. He adjudicates for local, regional and Music Teachers National Association music festivals and competitions.
In Fall of 2023, George began the Doctor of Musical Arts in piano performance at University of Miami’s Frost School of Music, where he studies with Santiago Rodriguez and serves as faculty for the Frost Preparatory and Advanced Piano Program.
